Today the SMS AVID Elective classes heard from three former Sultan Middle School students now College Graduates in class today. Each of these students at one time attended SMS participating in ASB, NJHS, sports, Honors, and Highly Capable classes. Each student took a different path to graduating high school and now graduating college. They spoke to the students about their personal experiences in middle school, high school, and college, and gave advice for how the students could be successful in high school, college and beyond. We are grateful for Lydia, Maddy, and Meghann coming to speak to the students and share their experiences with high school and college.

SMS ASB is hosting our end of the year Neon Nights Dance!!! Who: Sultan Middle School students only. What: Wear your brightest colors and come dance with us under the blacklights to celebrate the end of the school year! When: Friday, June 7th 3-5pm Cost: Tickets are $7 without ASB, $5 with ASB Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, May 29th.

7 of our SMS students placed in state and are qualified to go to TSA Nationals in Orlando, Florida! Please consider giving a donation to help these students to attend and compete at the national level. Donations can go to the SMS office via check or cash to the TSA account. TSA is a Nationally recognized organization where students in middle school and high school compete in events that helsing mobile app, scroll to the bottom to find ' Fundraisers'.p prepare them for careers in the future. This program is led and driven by the students. Our students were able to compete at the state level and placed in the following events; fashion design, prepared speech, leadership strategies, problem solving, and biotech. Camp Mariposa Everett is a free camp, run by Compass Health for youth ages 9-12 affected by substance use disorder in their families. Youth participate in fun, traditional camp activities as well as education and support sessions led by mental health professionals and trained adult mentors.

Camp Mariposa Everett is a free, year-round weekend camp program for children ages 9-12 who are affected by the substance use disorder of a family member. Weekend camps offer fun, traditional camp activities combined with education and support sessions led by mental health professionals and trained adult mentors. Camp Mariposa Everett is part of Eluna’s national Camp Mariposa program and is run by Compass Health. Camp Mariposa helps youth: ► Reduce feelings of isolation and guilt ► Connect with friends facing similar situations ► Learn that addiction is a disease and not their fault ► Build confidence ► Learn critical life skills to help manage feelings and practice self-care. ► Have FUN! What makes a good camper at Camp Mariposa? Campers should be between 9-12 years old Campers should be able to work in a group environment, we are not able to provide one on one guidance. Camper is comfortable sleeping away from home. Campers should be ready to make new friends who may have a shared experience. Campers should know that at camp we do fun traditional camp activities and also talk about how substance use has affected them. At camp we talk about emotions and feelings in a group settings. Campers should be able to regulate their behaviors.
