UPDATE to Parking at SHS
Dear Sultan High School Families,
We want to share an important update to our student parking policy. After reviewing state requirements with our District Leadership Team, we learned that our current practice of assigning individual parking spots is not in compliance with state law. To address this, we are making adjustments effective immediately.
The good news is that the cost of a parking permit is dropping from $75 to just $2. This significant reduction makes it much more affordable for all students who choose to drive to school.
Here is what you need to know:
Parking permits will now cost $2.
Parking will be on a first come, first served basis. Students will still be required to park in the designated student parking lot.
Individual parking spots will no longer be assigned. Even if a student has already selected and been assigned a spot, all student parking is now general and first come, first served.
Students will still need to complete all necessary paperwork to park on campus (vehicle registration, proof of insurance, driver’s license, etc.).
We are aware that some families have already paid the previous $75 fee under the old system. Refunds will be provided to those families, and we will share the refund process details very soon.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact me directly at ryan.malone@sultan.k12.wa.us, or by phone through the high school office.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we make this transition. While this is a change in practice, the significant reduction in price ensures that student parking remains affordable and accessible for all.
Sincerely,
Ryan
