AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an academic program that provides scaffolded support that students need to encourage college and career readiness and success.   AVID is designed to increase the number of students who enroll and persist in four-year colleges and universities.  In order to accomplish this, AVID has developed the AVID Elective course. For one period each day, students receive the additional academic, social, and emotional support that will help them succeed in their school’s most rigorous courses.

Students are usually selected to enroll in AVID after an application process.
