It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Teachers, we appreciate the countless hours you put into preparing lessons and "empowering all students to achieve learning at high levels"! Your commitment is invaluable. Thank you for your dedication and passion for teaching. Our PTSO asks that students bring a snack or a card to their favorite teachers on Tuesday, the 6th.

Participate in our NJHS Cereal Food Drive from 5/5-5/9! Any hot or cold cereal is welcome. Send the cereal in with your student to bring to homeroom.
Last Saturday, the Skyhawk Marching Band traveled to Wenatchee to participate in this years Apple Blossom Parade. The weather was gorgeous! Drum Majors: Asriel Cookson and Ava Porter, led the marching band through the streets while the band played Louie Louie.
Omri Eakin, Colton Perske, Oliver Haynes, William Loudenslager, Ivan Martinez, Veronica Torres, Abdiel Ortiz, Jesus Manriquez, and Jensen Nielson rocked out on their drums for Louie Louie and played their drumline feature: STORM!
Great job to all of the Skyhawks who participated in this year's parade!!!

Superintendent Dan Chaplik is a board member for the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition. Work is being done to improve what is otherwise a daycare/early learning desert in our area. While we understand that some of the dates are already in the past, there is a gift card incentive to participate for the May 5th group!

These small group conversations are part of a community effort led by the Early Learning Leadership Council of Snohomish County. We want to hear directly from families and guardians about their challenges and experiences so that future funding and policy solutions reflect what our community truly needs.
Details
- You will join a 60-minute conversation with a small group of 3-4 participants.
- Focus groups will be held both in person and online.
- A translator will be available in your preferred language, if needed.
- Participants will receive a thank-you $50 gift card for their time.

Your experience matters. Your voice will directly shape how we identify solutions to childcare and early learning challenges in our county.

Step Up Day is when the 5th graders from Sultan Elementary and Gold Bar Elementary come to SMS for a visit! Our 8th grade WEB leaders will help lead a fun assembly and tell them all about the classes, electives, clubs, and sports. This is a great opportunity for the 5th graders to get familiarized with our campus and relieve some apprehension for the transition to middle school.
Step Up Parent Informational Night is for parents of 5th graders to learn about what to expect for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. It's an opportunity to ask questions, learn about what classes, sports, and clubs are available and get information on PowerSchool and Canvas Parent accounts.
Administrative professionals includes our secretaries, administrative assistants, and receptionists. Thank you for keeping things running smoothly and efficiently!

Attention 7th graders! Have you ever wanted to be a part of ASB? We are now accepting applications for the 2025-26 Executive Board Officers. Pick up a packet at the front office and turn it in by May 1st.
AVID is taking applications for next year! Current 6th and 7th graders who are interested in applying for AVID can pick up an application from Mr. Riehle or the front office.
***All incoming 6th graders will have one quarter of AVID in the 2025-2026 year and will then have an opportunity to apply.
8th graders who are interested in AVID who are NOT already in AVID can reach out to Mr. Riehle.

📅 Start Date: Monday, April 14th
🕒 Time: Right after school until 4:45 PM
📍 Location: Meet in the gym
🚍 Activity buses will be available for transportation.
🔑 Important:
Athletes should come prepared in correct athletic attire (sneakers, comfortable clothes) for practice.
Sports physicals must be valid/updated in order to participate. Make sure yours is up-to-date!
